Screen & Sound Recorder is a Chrome extension that records your screen together with your computer's sound, your microphone and, if you choose, your camera. This policy explains what the extension accesses, where that data is kept, and what it never does.
In short: everything stays on your computer. The extension has no servers, no accounts, no analytics and no advertising. Nothing you record or set is ever sent to the developer or to anyone else.
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The screen, window or tab you pick, and your computer's sound | Only after you press Start Recording and choose what to share in Chrome's own picker | To make the recording |
| Microphone | While the recorder window is open and the Microphone switch is on | To show the level meter and to record your voice |
| Camera | While the recorder window is open and the Camera switch is on | To show your camera preview and to record it |
| Your recording files | When you play, rename or delete a recording on the Recordings page | To play the file, save it under a new name, or remove it |
Chrome and macOS ask for your permission before the extension can use the screen, the microphone or the camera, and you can turn this permission off at any time.
If you turn on "Allow access to file URLs" for the extension, it reads only the recording files it saved itself, so you can play and rename them on the Recordings page. It does not open, read or list any other files on your computer.
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
Questions about this policy can be sent through the contact email on the extension's Chrome Web Store page, or by opening an issue at github.com/yz-01/chrome-extension-privacy.
